With attendance limited to 25, the seminars' round-table discussions allow for intensive involvement from attendees. Past topics include "Top Gun Sales Manager Training" with sales managers from Peel's Salon Services, Columbia Beauty Supply and Marshall Salon Services; "How to Become a Million Dollar Sales Consultant" led by million-dollar plus sales consultants from Salon Services & Supplies and Marshall's; and "Creative Store Boot Camp," a full-blown store leadership training program from R.G. Shakour, Peel's and Salon Concepts.

All-Industry Access.
PBA includes top salons and spas, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, OTCs and traditional distributors. This means that membership in PBA connects you in valuable ways with both your customers and your business partners. Plus, PBA alliances connect you even further to groups such as the Beauty Industry Fund (which raises awareness about diversion) and the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association (which handles product ingredient issues). Can you afford to pass up this opportunity to benefit from these PBA relationships?
Benefit Providers.
PBA partners with a selective group of respected companies to expand the value of your membership with valuable discounts on products and services. Looking for software solutions to improve operational functions? Brown Smith Wallace provides its Distribution Software Guide free to PBA members. Or perhaps you're looking for ways to reduce freight costs? RMT Advantage's FedEx program is specially designed for beauty industry distributors. Clients include West Coast Beauty Supply, R.G. Shakour and Columbia Beauty Supply.
Networking.
While the business world is certainly competitive, an association provides a valuable collaborative experience. Distributor member breakfasts at major industry trade shows provide an opportunity for distribution professionals to share ideas and provide each other with on-going support. The distributor-only email listserve allows members to share ideas on a range of topics, from compensation to legal issues to staff meetings, without leaving their desks!
New Member Calls.
This rookie member program provides an hour-long conference call with members of the distributor section's leadership. Ask questions about the state of the industry, share business advice, find out how members are combating challenges in the marketplace and learn how to make the most of your membership. Let the networking begin! Call 800-468-2274 (480-281-0424) to learn when the next call will take place.
Event Discounts.
PBA members receive two free tickets to Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas, Nevada (a $200 value). Members receive a 50% discount off the price of Center for Business Education tuition. And members pay $405 less for Symposium tuition than non-members and can save even more if purchasing 3 or more tickets. Plus, members who exhibit at the International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE) receive $50 off a 10'x10' booth, 300 lbs. of free drayage, 40-60% off sponsorships and advertising, and an upgraded listing in the on-site show program. Business Blueprints.
Want to revise your DSC sales agreement? Considering implementing a non-compete? Looking for good language for an outstanding credit memo? Distributor members have provided great templates of these documents-and many more-for you to download. Simply customize the document to your business. A full list of the blueprints will be available in January 2007.
Research.
PBA quantifies the state of the industry and marketplace trends, providing valuable benchmarks over time. Professional hairstyling product manufacturers anonymously share their data with an independent public accounting firm who prepares the annual Market Shipment Study, a comprehensive market overview of the industry. The study is available for purchase at a discount for distributor members. Members may also purchase TSA's 10th Anniversary Survey (a profile of PBA member salons nationwide) or receive a free copy of the National Industry Profile (based on federal government data). Advocacy.
When businesses join together in an association like PBA, they become a powerful and effective voice for the industry. PBA already sponsors national tip-tax legislation that could return up to $6 billion to the industry each year. Our Nail Manufacturers Council responded to legislative attention on the nail industry with clear guidelines on pedicure and nail product safety. And PBA co-sponsors Welcome to Our World, where industry professionals give Congress a makeover while pushing specific legislative issues. But there is much more to be done. Federal and state policy makers need a resource to consult when beauty industry issues arise. We want them to think of PBA first. And we're going to be out there knocking on their doors to advocate for our members' interests when bills arise on small business issues such as tax regulations, OSHA and health care.
