Manufacturer Top 10 List
Research.
PBA quantifies the state of the industry and marketplace trends, providing valuable benchmarks over time. For the annual Market Shipment Study, professional hairstyling product manufacturers anonymously share their data with an independent public accounting firm who prepares a comprehensive market overview of the industry. The data in this study is available nowhere else, and many manufacturer members feel that the value of this study alone makes membership mandatory for their companies. Manufacturer members may also purchase TSA's 10th Anniversary Survey (a profile of PBA member salons nationwide) or receive a free copy of the National Industry Profile (based on federal government data). ISSE Discounts.
PBA members who exhibit at the International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE) in Long Beach, California receive $50 off the price of a 10' x 10' booth and 300lbs. of free drayage. Members also benefit from 40-60% off ISSE sponsorships and advertisements in the ISSE on-site show program. Plus, all member exhibitors receive a free bold exhibitor listing with a "PBA Member" logo in the on-site show program.
All-Industry Access.
PBA includes top salons and spas, traditional distributors, OTCs, manufacturer representatives and manufacturers. This means that membership in PBA connects you in valuable ways with both your customers and your business partners. Plus, PBA alliances connect you even further to groups such as the Beauty Industry Fund (which raises awareness about diversion) and the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association (which handles product ingredient issues). Can you afford to pass up this opportunity to benefit from these PBA relationships?

Mintel's market-research reports provide a unique overview of market dynamics. PBA members receive 15% off Mintel titles such as U.S. Nail Color & Care and Hispanics & Personal Care. Or perhaps you're looking for a 10% reduction in your utility expenses? With no upfront costs to members, APPI will evaluate your business's energy, utility and telecommunications expenses.
Advocacy.
When businesses join together in an association like PBA, they become a powerful and effective voice for the industry. PBA already sponsors national tip-tax legislation that could return up to $6 billion to the industry each year. And PBA co-sponsors Welcome to Our World, where industry professionals give Congress a makeover while pushing specific legislative issues. But there is much more to be done. Federal and State policy makers need a resource to consult when beauty industry issues arise. We want them to think of PBA first. And we're going to be out there knocking on their doors to advocate for our members' interests when bills arise on business issues such as health care, tax policy, ingredient issues, health care, minimum wage and OSHA. Networking.
While the business world is certainly competitive, an association provides a valuable collaborative experience. PBA's industry events, including evening cocktail receptions at major trade shows and charitable fundraising functions, are a great way to stay connected to other members. And the manufacturer-only email listserve allows members to share ideas on a range of topics, from compensation to legal issues to staff meetings, without leaving their desks!
