1. Is ISSE open to the public? No, the International Salon & Spa Expo is open to licensed salon and spa professionals only. The following credentials are REQUIRED for entrance:

  • Personal Photo Identification

  • Industry credentials in the form of one of the following:

    • Cosmetology License

    • Salon or Spa Business License

    • Maly's Store Card

    • Business Card printed with both your name and the name of the salon (generic salon cards with handwritten names will not be accepted)

    • Cosmoprof Beauty Supply Store Card

    • Sally's Professional Card (Red)

    • Cosmetology School Time Sheet or Report Card

    • Cosmetology School ID Card

No one will be permitted to enter the show without proper identification and credentials. No refunds will be issued if you are unable to provide proof of licensure.

2. If I am a manager or work in a salon, may I attend ISSE? Yes, provided that you present proof of employment by the salon in the form of one of the following:

  • A check stub containing your name and salon name

  • A business card printed with both your name and name of the salon where you work. Generic salon cards with your name handwritten on it will not be accepted.

  • An original letter on salon letterhead signed by the salon owner verifying your employment with the salon. Copies will not be accepted.

3. What is the dress code at ISSE? Casual - however, shirts and shoes are required.

4. What are the expo floor hours?

Saturday, January 30 1:00pm - 6:00pm
Sunday, January 31 9:00am - 6:00pm

5. I am an NCA member. Can I get in free? No. However, NCA members do receive 50% off the attendee ticket price. When you purchase your ticket, you will be required to supply your NCA Membership Number for verification. Please note that there are no NCA Member discounts on Hands-On Education or Special Events.

6. I am an instructor. Do I get free admission? Yes, if you are currently employed by a school as an instructor. ISSE provides each school with five complimentary 3-day tickets. To obtain an instructor ticket order form, please have your school representative contact Chris Kline via email at ckline@probeauty.org or call 800.468.2274, X127. Instructor tickets will be available onsite at the Will Call counter. Instructors must present their cosmetology license and photo ID to obtain their free ticket.

7. I am not a cosmetologist; I am an esthetician. Can I attend ISSE? Yes, certified estheticians may attend with a copy of their certification and photo ID.

8. I am a massage therapist. Can I attend ISSE? Yes, certified massage therapists may attend with a copy of their certification and photo ID.

9. I am a distributor or manufacturer. Can I attend ISSE? Only if you are an exhibitor or a PBA member. The show is open only to salon and spa professionals only. Non-exhibiting and/or non-member manufacturers and distributors are not permitted to attend the show.

10. I am a student, so I don't have a cosmetology license. May I attend ISSE? To gain admission to the show, students must present personal photo ID along with either a valid student ID or an original letter from your beauty school (on school letterhead) stating that you are a current student. Copies of letters will not be accepted. Students do not receive discounted tickets.

11. Do PBA members get free admission? PBA members receive two 3-day complimentary tickets to the show. Additional tickets may be purchased at show price.

12. What is the Professional Beauty Association (PBA)? PBA is a non-profit trade association that represents the interests of the professional beauty industry from manufacturers and distributors to salons and spas. The association serves the industry with education, government advocacy, commerce opportunities, research/statistics and public relations/image building. PBA is led by industry volunteers and is guided by the goal of enhancing the power, performance and perception of the professional beauty community.

14. Can I buy special event tickets only or do I need to buy a show ticket? You are not required to purchase a show ticket to purchase a special event ticket. However, the cost of the special event ticket DOES NOT include admission to the show.

15. Do I have to purchase a show ticket to attend education classes? Yes, you must purchase a ticket to the show in order to attend any of the education classes. Complimentary education classes are included with the price of your ticket. Hands-On education classes are also available for an additional investment.

16. If I purchase my ticket online, how do I get it? If you purchase before December 10, 2009 and live in the United States, your ticket will be mailed to you. If you purchase after December 10, 2009 or live outside of the United States, your ticket will be available for pick up at the Will Call counter at the show. You must present your email confirmation, photo ID and industry credentials to receive your tickets.

17. I lost my ticket. What do I do? If you purchased your ticket online, by phone or by mail, you can pick up a replacement ticket at the Registration counters onsite. You must present photo ID and industry credentials in order to obtain your replacement ticket. If you purchased your ticket from an authorized ticket seller, you must contact the ticket seller directly.

18. How far is it from the airport to the convention center?

To/From Long Beach Airport - 11 miles
Yellow Cab offers a flat rate of $19 each way to the convention center. Guests MUST tell the cab driver they want the $19 flat fee, otherwise you will be charged a higher fee. Yellow Cabs are available at the airport.

Super Shuttle is also available with advance reservations only - please call 310.782.6600 or 1.800Blue Van for information and rates.

To/From LAX Airport - 22 miles
Taxi: Approximately $55-$65

Super Shuttle runs 24 hours a day. Reservations are not needed or taken. Vans are located outside on the lower level of the baggage claim area. Cross over to the center island and look for the orange sign. Shuttles pick up approximately every 10 minutes. A Super Shuttle attendant will be available to assist passengers. Cost is $17/person.

Wheelchair transportation is available from LAX to the convention center through Super Shuttle. Advance reservations are required - please call 310.782.6600 for reservations and information.

To/From Orange County Airport (John Wayne Airport):
Taxi: Approximately $55-$65

Super Shuttle is available at the transportation center across the street. Look for the 3rd island marked Van Shuttle Service. Reservations are suggested, but not required. Cost is $37 each way for one person and $9 each way for each additional person. Please call 714.517.6600 or 800.862.7771 for reservations.

19. Where is the best place to park? Parking is sometimes difficult to find. We recommend car-pooling. The Expo will be taking place in the Exposition Halls of the Long Beach Convention Center. Parking is available at the Promenade Parking Garage, Terrace Theater Parking Garage and Area Parking Garage. There are two parking lots: the Main parking lot and Elephant Lot are located off of Shoreline Drive. Please note that parking fees apply.

21. What is typical weather in January? 60's - 70's during the day and 40's- 50's in the evening. Convention centers and hotels tend to keep things cool, so you may wish to bring a sweater.

22. Can I bring my child? For liability reasons and to ensure the safety of your child, children under the age of 16 (including infants) will not be admitted to the show. NO EXCEPTIONS!

23. Can I bring a cart? No. Carts, strollers, carriages and rolling bags of any kind (including suitcases) are not permitted on the show floor.

25. Is there food available at the Convention Center? Yes, food is available for purchase in both the Promenade and Arena Lobby. There are also several restaurants as well as fast-food outlets within walking distance of the Convention Center.

26. I am a model. Is there an open call for models at ISSE? No, ISSE/PBA does not hold open model calls and does not hire models for the show. Exhibiting companies, educators and artists are responsible for hiring their own models.

27. Are any of the education classes offered in languages other than English? This varies from year to year but some complimentary education classes are offered in Spanish as well as English.
