Networking

Often cited as the single most valuable benefit of membership is PBA's incredible network of like-minded industry professionals who understand where you're coming from. When a salon member faces the sudden loss of three key earners, they can appeal to other owners on the PBA listserve and find ten suggestions for overcoming the challenge. When a manufacturer member is faced with recalling a product, they are supported by other members who have been there and gotten through it. When a distributor wants to celebrate raising a record amount for a charity, another member connects them to the right journalist to get the word out. While the business world is certainly competitive, an association provides a valuable collaborative experience.

Leadership Network

The PBA Leadership Network is a new opportunity to help develop PBA members from the distributor and manufacturer sections into the leaders of the professional beauty industry by providing educational and networking opportunities, with the goal of developing well-rounded industry leaders.

Led by a group of member volunteers, the PBA Leadership Network focuses on networking and business building skills through gatherings at industry events, the Leadership Network Forum and quarterly networking calls/webinars.

To be a part of the PBA Leadership Network, you must be employed by a PBA Distributor or Manufacturer section member company, hold a mid to senior level management position within their company and have a minimum of 5 years management experience.

How to Participate

Nomination Process: Nomination forms will be provided to PBA member companies each January and February, with a deadline of February 28 each year. A new class of 25 members will be selected to join PBA's Leadership Network each April.

Participation Costs: The PBA Leadership Network dues are $75.00 annually, in addition to a company's regular PBA membership fee. This fee will support programming initiatives and activities.

Listserve

The listserve is the most powerful networking benefit besides face-to-face interaction. It allows you to communicate through email with other members in your section. Here is how it works: Members with email subscribe to the listserve, which links everyone together. When a member has a question on a topic, such as front-desk compensation, the member simply sends a message to the listserve asking for advice. The message is sent to ALL listserve members in the form of an email message. As a 'list' participant, upon receiving the message, you can do a variety of things:

  • Read and respond to the message if you have an idea

  • Read and wait for responses from other listserve participants

  • Read and delete the message if it doesn't pertain to you

To join the listserve contact PBA Membership. Please include your name, company name, appropriate email address(es) and your member ID (if available). PBA membership includes subscriptions for up to three email addresses.

Listserve Archive

Thinking about your next staff meeting? Wondering about your paid vacation policy? Retrieve archived business conversations from the listserve for great ideas from your peers! Members can review the archives even if they are not subscribed to the email listserve! This website is for members only so you will need to authenticate above in order to gain access to the archives.
