A Letter from the Manufacturer Leadership

As the newly elected president of the Manufacturer Leadership Council, I am excited about the opportunities we have to make the Professional Beauty Association a strong and unified voice for the professional beauty industry.

Mergers and acquisitions have certainly altered the structure of the landscape as we have known it as our industry continues to experience the effects of consolidation. However, change, although generally met with apprehension, can also bring positive and much needed benefits and energy.

Through this time of change, it is important to maintain a unified voice that preserves the interest of the industry. PBA can be that voice for us, but we need the input and support of the members of the manufacturer section.

The unified voice of PBA was heard at this year's Cosmoprof North America (CPNA) event. The show continues to grow and is quickly becoming a premier event for our industry. For all those that can't decide to publicly support the show or for those who publicly criticize it, I would like to share my position. The professional beauty industry needs a buyer-to-buyer event, and CPNA is it. We get so caught up in day-to-day routines, but how often do we have the opportunity to meet with our business partners and review the strategic directions of our business? It will not happen by sitting in your office, but by getting to a location that has been put together to foster the needs of our industry. PBA's team deserves many compliments for their efforts on producing a successful show that gives us as manufacturers an opportunity to network and conduct business.

So what else can be done? PBA is a membership-driven organization, so get involved! Support the association by paying your dues and getting the word out to the companies that are not yet members that they can help in creating a unified voice for our industry. Most importantly, make sure you are communicating your issues to your leadership council. Feel free to call or email me with any issues or concerns you have.
