Symposium 13 Joins Cosmoprof North America in Vegas
In 2009, the beauty industry comes together under one roof when Symposium moves to Las Vegas to join Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), the 20th North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) and the PBA Annual Business Forum at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, July 19-21, 2009.
Symposium 12, the most respected salon and spa business education in North America, brought together a vibrant group of owners, managers and key staff at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, January 13-15, 2008. The long weekend was brimming with engaging business education, high-powered motivation and intensive networking opportunities for attendees. Held in conjunction with Symposium 12, were the inaugural gatherings of the Best Practice Club and the Distribution & Sales Summit.
Industry leaders Steven Brooks, Eric Fisher, Robert Cromeans, James Morrison, Sandra Yu, Geno Stampora, Jane Wurwand, Van Council and others shared their trade secrets regarding time management, maximizing business success, thinking out-of-the-box and believing in your passion to succeed. After what many attendees are calling the best Symposium in years, it's hard not to get excited about the future of this premier salon and spa education event.
In 2008, a number of Symposium attendees commented on the high caliber of professionalism and enthusiasm expressed by the 100 Beacon students. This can be attributed in part, to a revised entry process, in which students provided a resume, a professional portfolio and a creative marketing piece to be judged. With over 400 entries submitted to the program, only 100 students were chosen as winners to attend Symposium 12 as Beacon students.
Geno Stampora facilitated the Beacon 2008 breakouts and provided information and inspiration for the students. For the first time ever, Beacon alums returned to share their Beacon experience and career paths since they were a part of the program. Sarah Kobeski, Melissa Jenkins and Catherine Miley shared stories of how Beacon changed their lives and influenced their current career paths. Today, they are not only licensed professionals, but also educators in a school or salon.
Beacon returns in 2009, with a new home in Las Vegas! Until then, future students, alumni and salon owners can be part of the newly launched Beacon Forum at probeauty.org/beacon. On the Beacon Forum, alumni can reconnect and share stories of life after Beacon, current students can ask for advice and salon owners can connect to outstanding students looking for employment opportunities.
