For several years now, PBA's Nail Manufacturers Council (NMC) has been working with various organizations around the world to adapt its informational brochures to other countries and cultures, and to then publish them as co-branded educational literature. These materials are generally oriented towards health and safety issues - with an eye towards educating nail industry professionals and consumers. Organizations then distribute these co-branded materials to beauty professionals in their respective countries. As you can imagine, these opportunities become a win-win for everyone involved (manufacturers, distributors, professionals/technicians, governments and industry groups).
So far, the NMC has co-branded educational materials with the International Nail Technician Association (INTA) - representing technicians in the United States and the Australian Professional Fingernail Association (APFA) in Australia. Now, PBA is on the cusp of a very significant step forward by partnering with HABIA (habia.org), an important UK government-approved, standards-setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spas.
The exceptional volunteers of PBA's NMC have worked with HABIA for nearly two years to bring this project to fruition. By co-branding these educational materials with PBA, HABIA - a government sanctioned body - provides an endorsement of the information developed by the NMC. Just as exciting and with longer-term implications is that this endorsement strongly suggests that PBA's information will be relied upon heavily when standards and regulations are developed in the UK. By any measure, this is a major victory for the NMC and PBA!
The NMC is in the process of finalizing the brochures with HABIA, but existing materials written for both the consumer and the salon professional are already available at probeauty.org/nmc.
