2009 Beacon Application
The 2009 Beacon Application will be available during the Fall of 2008, until then, please use the tips below to help you think about your application
Beacon Application Process
The skills you develop in the Beacon entry process will help take you from student to salon professional. Your entry will be judged on creativity, presentation and content. Good luck!
Step 1: Create a professional resume.
You can find resources to assist you in creating your resume here. Other great resources are your instructors, career centers at your local high school or community college and a variety of online resources.
Step 2: Create a portfolio.
Submit at least one before and after look, appropriate to the career path you would like to follow (hair, nails, skin). This is an opportunity to show premier salon and spa owners from across the country what you can do! Remember to have your models sign a photo release form. (a sample is available here.) Keep a digital copy of your photos as a backup and mail in a physical copy of your portfolio.
Step 3: Create a promotional piece.
Here's your opportunity to let your creativity shine. We want you to create a piece to sell yourself as a future salon/spa professional. Use your creativity to create a promotional item about yourself, your skills, your goals! Examples of promotional pieces include: business card, brochure, billboard, flyer, 30-second commercial...it's up to you! There are a few restrictions, so be sure to check the entry guidelines below.
Step 4: Prepare and mail your entry.
Complete the Beacon application found in the paper brochure (or at the top of this page). Mail the application, along with the $25.00 entry fee, and ALL three entry pieces described above to: Beacon c/o PBA | 15825 N. 71st Street, Suite 100 | Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
The entry deadline is September 30, 2007.
If you have questions about the entry process, please call 800.468.2274 (480.281.0424) x117 or email beacon@probeauty.org.
