Advisory Council Voting is Now Open

Each year, PBA Beauty Professional/NCA Members can elect two (2) members to the Advisory Council.

Each Advisory Council has six representatives, and the terms are for three years. Two of these representatives’ terms will expire on August 31, 2024. The newly elected representatives will join their Council to represent the members-at-large of their membership section.

As set forth in the bylaws, the Advisory Council established a nominating committee to develop a slate of candidates for your consideration. Members were notified of the opportunity to be considered as a candidate for the Advisory Council via the PBA website, social media, and email communications. The Nominating Committee considered each applicant’s experience and skillset and is confident the final candidates are highly qualified to be part of your Advisory Council.

CHRISTINA CURRIER

Cosmetologist | Barre, VT

Christina Currier is a Cosmetology Instructor for the Central Vermont Career Center in Vermont. She came to this program as a student in 2004! Over the years, she has utilized resources that she has found through PBA to increase the rigor and relevance of her program. She has shared what she has learned and brought it back to the state’s team of CTE Cosmetology Instructors, who are helping to secure the integrity of our industry in Vermont.

Christina is also behind the chair. Being a member of PBA has given her so much in her career as an educator and stylist, keeping her at the forefront of trends, tools, and technologies and expanding her professional network and community outreach. PBA has played an essential role in her life and career in this industry and will continue. She would appreciate the opportunity to give back to this fantastic association.

YOLANDA JOHNSON

Cosmetologist | Camden, SC

Yolanda Johnson is a licensed cosmetologist with over 25 years of natural hair styling experience. In that time she has worked behind the chair, she’s provided haircare management coaching to families for over 10 years, and she’s founded her own beauty-based educational consulting company – Integrated Roots International®. Yolanda was the very first member of PBA’s Business of 1 community. She joined PBA in order to become a part of a national community of industry leaders, and to gain access to resources and opportunities that weren’t necessarily available to small businesses and independent stylists. Since joining PBA, she has participated in several educational trainings, she has been a contestant in the NAHA competition, and has joined in solidarity with various advocacy initiatives including the “I am Licensed. I am a Professional” movement.

STEVEN PORTER

Cosmetologist | Louisville, KY

Steven is a firm believer that volunteering is the best way to give back to the industry that has given him so much. As a licensed cosmetologist, Steven has consistently volunteered for PBA and NCA throughout his entire career, starting out as a competitor which quickly led him into education. He became the director of education for PBA / NCA of Kentucky and on to become Hair America National Educator. There Steven was given the opportunity to co-create two trend haircutting and color collections that were taught around the country. Steven has been very active with PBA through judging NAHA the last 6 years, membership, government advocacy, and events. Steven would appreciate your vote during these difficult times for licensed professionals so he can continue to help unite elevate and serve our industry.

BETH MINARDI

Cosmetologist | New York, NY

Beth Minardi dedicates her professional life to the elevation of salon professional hair color.  Armed with a diploma in Education from UCF, Beth began her career where she rose to Director of Education after being instrumental in the development of Logics Color Cremes.  After opening Minardi Salon, Redken asked Beth to help create, launch and educate Redken Color Fusion and to participate in the relaunch of Redken SEQ. She continues to present hair color education to thousands of colorists nationwide and is the recipient of both NAHA’s and Southwestern Hairdressers’ Lifetime Achievement award, and numerous color artist and educator recognition from Behind the Chair.com.  Currently, she divides her time between seeing salon clients and teaching her ‘Immersion Into Hair Color learning sessions, and consults for the Beecher Group, exclusive US distributors for Artego. USA.   Beth is a proud member of the PBA.

NINA TULIO

Cosmetologist | Santa Monica, CA

With 27 years of experience in the industry, Nina has served in many facets, beginning as a hairstylist for two decades. She transitioned into managerial positions, including serving as the DM for a chain of salons in Lehigh Valley, PA. In 2005, Nina ventured out joining her mentors in South FL, where they successfully opened five salons within a year. However, Nina’s heart led her back to PA to pursue her dream of owning her own salon. After 11 years of running a successful salon, she sold her business to fulfill her passion for helping others grow their businesses. Over the past four years, she has partnered with PBA through online classes and community support. Additionally, being a part of NAHA and ISSE has been a significant highlight. Nina firmly believes in giving back to the industry and admires the hard work and dedication of PBA in supporting our industry.
