I’ve built my career around helping people feel confident through professional beauty. As the owner of Backstage Beauty Salon Spa & Boutique in Westby, I provide hair, skincare, lash, and other beauty services while creating a welcoming space where every client feels valued. I believe in lifelong learning and regularly pursue continuing education to stay current with the latest techniques and trends.

PBA Experience & Involvement
As a PBA Member, I’ve valued the association’s commitment to education, advocacy, and protecting our profession. Through my membership, I’ve gained valuable resources and insights that have helped me grow as both a beauty professional and salon owner.

Advisory Council Interest
I’m interested in serving on the Advisory Council because I want to give back to an industry that has given so much to me while representing the perspective of a salon owner in a small rural community. I hope to help ensure beauty professionals of all salon sizes and locations have a voice as we work together to strengthen the future of our industry.

Beauty Industry Experience
I became a spa owner in 2024 and have embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. After becoming a laser technician specializing in tattoo removal, I graduated from Aveda in 2025 and was honored to be selected as Iowa’s 2025 PBA Beacon winner. Today, I provide laser services, laser hair removal, waxing, and facials, and recently partnered with three local nonprofits to help survivors of human trafficking remove unwanted tattoos. I stay open to what’s ahead in the industry and never say no to change or learning.

PBA Experience & Involvement
PBA was the first organization I turned to as I prepared for graduation and looked for support, insurance information, and continuing education. The PBA team has always been there to answer my questions and connect me with valuable resources. Being selected as Iowa’s 2025 PBA Beacon winner was one of the most inspirational experiences of my career, showing me firsthand the power of connection, support, and opportunity within our industry.

I believe in opportunity, growth, and new ideas. Serving on the Advisory Council would give me the chance to contribute my perspective while continuing to learn from others. I believe we grow stronger by sharing our knowledge, experiences, successes, and challenges. Beauty Industry Experience
For more than three decades, I have dedicated my career to advancing the beauty industry through education, leadership, and innovation. I founded Kolour Kulture to elevate technical excellence and professional growth in the discipline of color and later launched Texture vs. Race, a professional movement that advances the industry through thoughtful dialogue and higher standards in texture education. My work has evolved into consulting with brands, salons, schools, and organizations to strengthen educational systems, develop leaders, and inspire meaningful industry progress.

PBA Experience & Involvement
I have proudly been a PBA Member since 2018 and have served the organization in a variety of capacities. I have served on a PBA Task Force, judged PBA NAHA for the past five years, received the 2024 PBA NAHA Educator of the Year award, and hosted 2025 PBA NAHA. PBA has been an important part of my professional journey, and I have valued every opportunity to support its mission, contribute my perspective, and champion the growth of our industry and the professionals it serves.

Throughout my career, I have believed that leadership carries both the privilege and responsibility of shaping our profession and leaving it better than we found it. Throughout my career, I have been committed to protecting the integrity of our industry through education, professional standards, and advocacy. I have proudly served on the PBA Advisory Council for more than seven years, advocating for our profession and supporting PBA’s mission before and throughout my time on the Council. I remain committed to helping keep our industry relevant, protected, and united through education and professional advocacy.
