Privacy Policy

Welcome to the website for the Professional Beauty Association (“PBA”), a professional association devoted to advancing the interests of the professional beauty industry. This Privacy Policy pertains to all websites maintained by PBA and our affiliates. By using any of these websites, you consent to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, including the way that we collect, use, and share your information, as described below. If you have any questions regarding our policies or your use of our website, please contact us at privacy@probeauty.org.

Information We Collect

We collect information from you in several ways, including when you provide it to us, such as when you join PBA, register or attend an event or education session, create a user account (profile), sign up for email newsletters, comment on our social media, or otherwise provide us with your information.

Information You Provide to Us

You may provide certain personal information to us, such as your first and last name, email address, mailing address, location information, telephone number(s) and other information that you may choose to share with us on your profile or otherwise. We also collect information when you communicate with us, register for an event or for education, place an order, enter a competition, or when you create a user account (profile), including the password that you select (or one that we set, in the case of a password reset). You may also provide us information in your profile or by making postings to our website or other social media.

Photos, Videos, & PBA Events

Your image, voice, comments and/or name may be taken in photographs and videos at PBA events or as part of your submissions to PBA or through social media postings.

Automated Information Collection

We may automatically collect certain information when you visit our website, such as your IP address; details about your browser, operating system and device/hardware; your location, if available; the URL that referred you to our website; your activities on our website; and other logging information, including the date and time of your visit. We may use a variety of technologies for such data collection, including web logs, web beacons, clear GIFs, cookies and others.

Cookies

Please note that we may use “cookies” (or “locally shared objects”) – small data files that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive – to collect certain information about you and your use of our website. We may also use cookies to identify your computer when you revisit our website to, for example, recall your login/account information or to track statistical information related to website navigation. We may use both “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies in order to better operate our website and enhance your experience. A session cookie enables certain features of our website and is deleted from your computer when you disconnect from or leave our website. If a portion of our website requires a password, you are giving us explicit permission to use a persistent cookie to manage your access.

Your browser, or other software, may allow you to reject or remove cookies, but if you do so, some features of our website may not work properly, and we may not be able to immediately recognize you the next time that you visit.

Analytics Services, Targeted Ads & Do-Not-Track

We may also use third-party analytics services, including Google Analytics, and these services may track details about your online activities over time and across different websites. These services help us to improve our website, products and offers. These services may also allow others to provide you with targeted ads or content that you may be interested in based on your online activities. You can learn more about Google Analytics and your choices at this link https://www.google.com/analytics/analytics/features/. If you would like to learn more about targeted ads and consumer choice, you may wish to visit the Network Advertising Initiative at https://www.networkadvertising.org/

We do not respond to, or take any specific action in connection with the receipt of, Do-Not-Track signals or other similar mechanisms regarding the collection of information about an individual’s online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services.

How We Use The Information That We Collect

We use the information that we collect from you to process your requests, such as event registrations and orders, and to provide you with services and other information that may be of interest to you, like email newsletters or details regarding new products, special offers or upcoming events. We also use the information that we collect to create your user account (profile) and to enable you to use its features. We also may use photographs and/or videos of you, as well as your comments, in our materials, on our websites and in our social media.

You may also opt in to receive text or SMS messages from PBA by giving us your express written consent to receive marketing and non-marketing autodialed and/or prerecorded calls and text messages to your cell phone. Your consent to receive such calls or texts is not a condition of any purchase. You may revoke your consent at any time by texting STOP in response to a text or following other opt-out instructions. After you submit a request to unsubscribe, you will receive one final text alert from PBA confirming your decision. After that, you will no longer be sent promotional texts from PBA unless you re-activate your opt-in consent.

How and When We Share Information With Others

We may share the information that we collect from you with service providers who assist us in our operations and to process your requests, or with third parties to provide you with information we believe will be of interest to you. We may also share information to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, subpoena, government request or other legal process. We may also share information with others, including law enforcement, to protect our website and to enforce our Terms of Use. We also reserve the right to share the information that we collect with any successor organization in the event of a merger, consolidation, transfer of our assets or other change in our organization.

The profile information that you provide may be made available to other members unless you opt out of that feature. Any personal information that you submit as part of a competition will also be made available to the public, unless the competition rules provide otherwise. Any information or comments in postings you make to our website or in our social media will be made public as well.

Third-Party Sites & Services

Our website includes features from third parties that allow you to interact with online and social media services, like Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and others. If you use these features, then we may share information about you with those third parties, and they may collect additional information from you. You should review the privacy policies for such third party services to understand how they collect and use information.

Our website may also include links to third party websites or other online services. We are not responsible for these other sites and services, and they may collect and use information about you. You should review their privacy policies before using such sites or services to understand how they collect and use information.

Updating Your Information and Preferences

Our website may allow you to update the information that we collect from you, such as the contact information that you provide when you create an account (profile). You may also request that we update or delete your information by sending an email to us at privacy@probeauty.org. If you would prefer not to receive email newsletters or other messages from us, you may use the “unsubscribe” features that are included in such messages or contact us at privacy@probeauty.org.

To revoke your consent and unsubscribe from text or SMS messages, you can text STOP at any time.
