It is with immeasurable sadness that we share the sudden and heartbreaking passing of our beloved Chairman, Dr John Rainey MBE who passed on 10th February 2026. Dr John was so much more than a Chairman; as the leader of a proud family business, he poured his heart into every aspect of Denman and the Denroy Group and built a business culture and a legacy that reflects the deep-rooted dedication, love and integrity that he had for his own family. A family that he adored and the foundation of everything he built.
Dr. John was a remarkable leader, a visionary engineer, an inspiring entrepreneur and above all a man who truly loved people. He cared about every individual in his company, their wellbeing, their growth, their families, their future. His belief in people shaped the very culture of Denman. He built, nurtured, protected, and championed this business and the wider industry as though it were an extension of his own home. His standards were high, his curiosity endless and his generosity unmatched. He was, quite simply, and extraordinary boss and an exceptional human being.

Not just leading but guiding with kindness, humility, warmth and strength. We have been so moved by the outpouring of love and shared memories in response to this news and we know that his memory will live on. From the foundations and structure he built, Denman and Denroy are empowered to move into the future with confidence, knowing that Dr John Rainey leaves an unstoppable legacy.”
Outside of work, Dr John was known for his vast and varied passions, his love of books, his fascination with history, his joy in collecting, and his unwavering commitment to engineering and innovation. He was a philanthropist who supported so many causes both nationally and locally from the ‘Make A Wish Foundation’ to his local youth hockey team. Our thoughts are with the Rainey family, his friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
