International women’s day

It is International Women’s Day! Today, we recognize all the women who are uniquely fierce. We are an industry that is 90.8% women* and everyone of those women works hard every day – whether it is as a stylist, a business owner, manufacturer or CEO. Hear from Nina Daily, the incoming Executive Director of the Professional Beauty Industry, on what it means to be a part of the professional industry and a woman in leadership.

Q: What does it mean to you to be a woman in leadership?
A: As a woman in leadership it’s my responsibility to help re-define what it means to be successful. Gender shouldn’t determine success so I want to build on the successes of the amazing women that inspired me; to help girls believe, and woman know, they have the opportunity to be anything they want to be.

“Nothing is impossible; the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!”

— Audrey Hepburn

Q: What would you recommend to young women starting out their careers?
A: Never give up on your career dreams. People in your life will try and tell you what they believe is possible for you or what you can be. Only you can make your dreams possible with hard work, positive attitude, and perseverance.

Q: How did you get started in the professional beauty space?
A: I have always had a passion for all things beauty, I remember trying my mom’s make up on when I was in junior high and knowing someday I wanted to be in this amazing industry. It took me 8 years to even be close to beauty and almost 20 before I was able to work in the professional beauty space. Hard work and good relationships ultimately gave me the opportunity I have today, and I could not be more thankful.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about work in the professional beauty industry?
A: THE PEOPLE and their passion for their work. I have been a part of many industries over my 20+ year career and I have never been more inspired by the passion of the people and companies I work with every day.

Q: What is your favorite or most iconic beauty moment?
A: It’s not a famous “beauty moment” but I always love helping those close to me choose hairstyles for their most important days – weddings, graduations, etc. I love the role beauty plays in our most memorable life moments. We all want to feel beautiful during those times.

Starting as Executive Director on June 1st, Nina will continue to work to unite the beauty industry, especially amid the challenges of a post-COVID landscape. With a renewed focus on charities and education, PBA will continue to provide and expand upon essential resources for it’s members.

“I will continue to deliver on the vision to elevate this great organization—and unite the industry, as we are all connected by beauty and united by passion.”
