State Senate Bill 544 will revise training requirements for barbers and cosmetologists.
SB 544 directs the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology to require completion of no more than 1,000 hours of training in the field for which an applicant for a license to practice barbering or cosmetology seeks initial licensing.
WEST VIRGINIA STATE HOUSE BILL 2325

State House Bill 2325 is a deregulation bill that will prohibit the Board from regulating the use, application, or administration, by unlicensed persons whether for compensation or not, of hair, nail, skin and other beauty products that are generally available through retail sale at groceries, drug stores and other stores offering a broad variety of consumer products. Beauty services may be provided to clients for compensation by unlicensed individuals if the products for beauty services are available.
ARIZONA STATE HOUSE BILL 2399

House Bill 2399 will reduce the number of hours needed to obtain a cosmetologist or hair stylist license. The number of hours in a cosmetology program will be reduced to one thousand hours.
The measure also reduces the number of training hours a person must complete before receiving a license to practice hairstyling from one thousand to six hundred.
